EllieGail’s is located in Elysian, Minnesota on Highway 60 between Faribault and Mankato. EllieGail’s is the creation and dream of Dawn Nygren, a former elementary school teacher who had a love for baking for family and friends and decided to turn it into a fulltime job in 2003.
EllieGail’s shares space with Mama’s Mercantile, a unique, fun gift shop owned by Dawn’s sister, Kim Greenwald-Mitchell and Audene Greenwald. The Greenwald family are known to the local area quite well as they also have a rural floral and greenhouse business. Besides, what could be better than good food and fun shopping – under one roof!
EllieGail’s building has a unique history. When you arrive at EllieGail’s you will notice the red schoolhouse. That red school house was located 4 miles north of town, near Dawn’s childhood home. It was moved to it’s present location by the former owner but opened for the first time by EllieGail’s. It now serves as a quaint dining area for EllieGail’s customers and can comfortably seat 45 people for small parties and receptions.
